During the public design festival several parking spaces will be made available for social sustainable interaction. Urbanlink's proposition is to create temporary music practice and perfromance spots:

Interesting public space is achieved when it is designed in a way that people feel happy when they use it. An important factor in people’s happiness is when they can use the space in their spare time the way they want to. This means that there lies a big challenge for designers to come up with solutions to facilitate this. This project, the Pop Up Music Spots, is one of the many possibilities to achieve this.

The goal of this project is to create flexible locations (Music Spots) in the urban environment where people can practice and play music. Playing music is an important leisure activity for a lot of people. Also, music is an important social factor. In a built environment it can be difficult to find places to practice, or to find people to play with.
Next to this, an urban environment is always in development. This provides possibilities for flexible and temporary use of these locations. The Music Spots can pop up at various locations at various times based on the needs and possibilities that come up.

• Because the public space is used by people performing their spare time activities, the space is being developed from the perspective of the user, not from the perspective of the developer. This increases the use and value of public space.
• People will be happy because the city provides the means necessary to use their spare time and meet like-minded people.
• Nowadays, music in public spaces is overtaken by street-musicians. With this project there is no incentive involved: people are there to practice their hobby and interact with other people.
• At the Pop Up Music Spots people can listen, practice, play together and meet new people. By using the accompanying website people can also meet online and then go to the physical space.
• The people present at the Spots share one common goal: performing music. This immediately creates a community feeling.Because the Spots are flexible and temporary, they act as a surprise element in the city.
• This project, in combination with the website as a stimulus, provide the necessary tools for citizens to create their own implementation to public space.
